I like its emphasis on change: that the definition of digital literacies changes with time and context, and that our own level of digital literacy changes with time and context as well.

This short article by Connie Malamed, aka the Learning Coach, gives a useful definition of personal learning environments, describes the difference between organic design and planned design of a PLE, and points to some different models for planned design. The models help learners to conceptualise why they are creating a PLE and therefore how to put it together. I have followed Connie Malamed's posts for a couple of years and have found the advice in them to be well-researched and practical.
